SSE Russia Alumni Birthday celebration


Stockholm School of Economics Russia celebrated Alumni Birthday 2014

A gala event took place on 11 June, in the Swedish Embassy in Moscow in honor of the SSE Russia Alumni Community.

An annual gala event gathered around 120 guests, including Executive MBA SSE Russia alumni and representatives of the Swedish business community in Russia. Graduates of the EMBA General Management, Strategic Marketing and Oil&Gas groups, who received their diplomas 5 and 10 years ago, were awarded with honorary emblems.

H.E. Veronika Bard Bringéus, the Ambassador of Sweden to the Russian Federation, held a welcoming speech in which she said: Tonight, we celebrate the role of higher education in society and we all know how much higher education means to a country´s development. Given this important role, SSE Russia is an outstanding example of Russian-Swedish cooperation and a model example of the Russian-Swedish partnership. SSE Russia stands out as a unique actor on the Russian market for higher business education and I would first and foremost like to congratulate all SSE Russia alumni. I am confident that you have been able to reap the fruit of your labor at your “alma mater SSE Russia, in your professional life.

Dr. Anders Liljenberg, Dean of the Stockholm School of Economics Russia: "For 17 years our School has successfully integrated the values ​​and traditions of Swedish business education in Russia. We sincerely hope that our graduates will contribute to our mission to developing socially responsible and transparent business".

Mathias Eklöf, President and Co-Founder at made a presentation of “How the internet is reshaping Russian society. Doing business on the Russian internet”. Mathias Eklöf emphasized the dynamics and potential of e-commerce on the Russian internet, which he interpreted as a sign of growing trust of Internet-users to on-line businesses. The use of less cash in the Russian economy also facilitates the growth of white salaries on the labor market and the development of a more transparent economy in Russia

Today the Alumni Society of Stockholm School of Economics Russia consists of 2000 graduates, including 900 graduates with Executive MBA diplomas and graduates of the various corporate SSE Russia programs. According to statistics, more than 30% of the new participants know alumni, and many of the long-term corporate programs were purchased by alumni after graduating from the Executive MBA program at the Stockholm School of Economics Russia.
