The expert is convinced that "You can be sure that deposits will not be annihilated and will bring profit in the form of new contacts, knowledge and opportunities that you will receive if, for example, you enter Executive MBA program. Besides, it is just the time to spend the spare time and energy on your own development exactly in such period when many projects are switched into standby mode and there is a risk of personal stagnation." 

Crisis is the best time for investments in yourself
To win competitive struggle in difficult economic time, it is worth remembering about the role of human resources like knowledge, abilities and skills that grows at such moments. Experts advise using this time for investments in your own professional development. This broadens capabilities of a person: the better the education, the more competitive advantages, the bigger the chance to succeed in career, the more likely is appearance of new ideas and non-standard decisions about future prospects.
The complicated and rapidly changing economic situation forces management of companies to reduce its expenses on education of the staff. Anastasia Balandovich, director of "Management in action" course of international management institute LINK, says, "This leads to a situation that during hiring of candidates those whose qualification corresponds to the changing requirements will be preferred, investments in intellectual capital will be minimal and payback will be maximal."
Along with this, the problem is in the fact that entrepreneurs are not very interested in improvement of their qualification. Ella Mikhailova, department director of recruiting agency Penny Lane Personnel, remarks, "Majority of entrepreneurs have come to business to work for themselves and to earn profit. Our businessmen do not manifest a wish to learn and to broaden the outlook. They think that the level of their knowledge is sufficient for management of an organization. They do not always manage to find spare time for learning and according to polls of entrepreneurs it turns out that such events are not useful." According to her, bearing this factor in mind, businessmen need short-term seminars being formed to the maximal extent from the standpoint of information filling. For example, this may be exchange and financial information (quotations, currency exchange rates), commercial information (information about products, services, addresses of companies), statistical data, in general, useful and practical advice of professional experts.
Mikhailova presumes that businessmen absolutely do not need educational and consulting information. She adds that it is also necessary to bear in mind that good education costs much now and not every entrepreneur is ready for additional investments in such scope. The expert remarks, "In general, majority of experts are convinced that successful development of small businesses depends more on specific of business and on the authorities than on education and training of the owner."

According to Izmailova, it is necessary to be oriented at the programs that have earned good reputation earlier during the previous crises, those that have good history and reputation. The expert presumes that recommendations of the clients who have graduated from these programs represent the most reliable source of information in this case.
According to Balandovich, in complicated economic spans of time demand grows for anti-crisis programs like lean production and management of projects, knowledge and changes. If we speak about the corporate market, companies stop teaching "just" to teach. The expert adds, "Everyone teaches "for itself" and this means that general trend moves towards individualization of programs for needs of the industry, customer company and private client. Issues of general management, marketing and human resources management go to the background making the room for programs of new generation – deeper, more saturated and specific."
According to Mikhailova, any investments in education will pay back with a margin but payback depends on the period of time during which they are used in practice. It is possible that investments may not be followed up by desired growth or its practical results will not correspond to the expected ones but this is already a matter of risks like in other kinds of investments. The expert adds, "In any case, it is necessary to invest in your development and crisis time is not an obstacle. Study educational literature, subscribe to a specialized magazine for your profession, find specializes sites in the Internet, read books and electronic manuals. Watch the news: you need the latest main changes in the laws. Norms and provisions change, new laws and decrees are released and, correspondingly, it is important not to lose your knowledge in a difficult period to occupy your working place quietly and with confidence afterwards." According to her, it will also be useful to get additional education, to visit various kinds of training and courses of improvement of qualification. Along with this, Mikhailova adds that it is possible to study at home too because it is easy to get even higher education remotely now and such service is provided by many institutes.
Modern devices may serve as good aids too: experts call turning to remote learning and direct participation in webinars the most optimal. Modern communication systems allow getting knowledge in any point of the world if there is working Internet and notebook, tablet computer or smart phone at hand. This is fast, efficient and economic.
Izmailova remarks, "Every person who strives for success needs permanent development. Development is a synonym of life and if we speak about success it is impossible without learning. That is why it is necessary to learn always but it is important to understand what for and in which direction to develop. Choice of the direction should be based on the goals and tasks set by you." According to her, a person should have an exclusively personal motivation: knowledge cannot be provided through force and resistance. The expert is convinced that those who do not let new knowledge in and do not look for methods of self-development risk becoming unnecessary because any knowledge gets depreciated and outmoded. The expert concludes, "Environment is changing, innovations penetrate into our life and into our habitat. And it would be shortsighted to ignore this."
