NATIONAL QUALITY CONCEPT WERE DEBATED IN ST. PETERSBURG STATE UNIVERSITY OF ECONOMICS
Pro-rector for quality of UNECON Elena Gorbashko read a greeting address to guests and participants during opening of the conference.
Gorbashko pointed out that the conference took place for the fifth time already and caused permanent interest among specialists in the field of quality management, lecturers, students, graduate students and everyone interested in problems of quality of life as a whole.
Because Rector of UNECON Igor Maximtsev could not be present at the conference personally his greeting to participants of the event was read. Maximtsev pointed out, 'The problem of quality is one of priority problems in the economy. In contemporary condition quality is a key for success of any organization, industry and country as a whole. In the last academic year, Russian system of higher education started working in new conditions: some strategic documents that determined its development were adopted. The new federal law on education set many new tasks, the main of them being quality of education. UNECON has always paid the biggest attention to this aspect. All changes of infrastructure of the university, standards and technologies are aimed at achievement of a situation when every student uses his potential and achieves high results."
The greeting address of Dean of Stockholm School of Economics Russia Anders Liljenberg was also read to the audience. The university of economics has cooperated with this school since 1997 and many joint projects of the educational institutions deal with the field of quality.
The address of Liljenberg that was ready by EMT Area Principal of Stockholm School of Economics in St. Petersburg Igor Dukeov said, "Attentive attitude to innovations in the field of quality control and new approaches to quality management are important lines of activity of every company that strives for growth and development. We watch with interest how the processes of formation of new quality systems touch more and more state and private enterprises of Russia. Working on the Russian market for more than 17 years, we can say with assurance that all our graduates occupied in production sector implement modern quality models successfully and because of this their enterprises develop much faster than enterprises of competitors."
Alexander Zhukov, chair of the committee of state financial control of St. Petersburg, spoke to the audience. He said that for the first time this year the committee acted in the role of co-organizer of the conference on quality. Zhukov stressed, "For a long time we have cooperated with the university of economics. Moreover, we have signed an agreement on strategic partnership and in the framework of this document we take part in training of students and graduate students. The quality problem is associated with economic aspects and in the current conditions authorities of the country and city pay much attention to this topic. I hope that theoretic approaches to improvement of quality will be worked out at the conference that we will be able to use efficiently in practice."
These were not the only greetings to participants of the event. Many co-organizers of the conference sent their wishes of fruitful work to the audience and expressed hope for efficient exchange of experience and making of important strategic decisions in the field of quality.
A plenary meeting took place in the framework of the conference during which the audience listened to reports of the leading specialists and researchers, as well as roundtable meetings dedicated to the topics:
• Higher education in provision of steady development of the economy: realities and prospects;
• Quality management in organizations and steady growth of the economy.
Students of the university took an active part in the event. A webinar dedicated to the topic "Problems of quality improvement and competitiveness of products in provision of steady development of the economy" was organized for them.
The event took place with support of the Ministry of Education and Science, all-Russian organization of quality, committee for science and higher education of the government of St. Petersburg, external relations committee of St. Petersburg, committee of state financial control of St. Petersburg, Test-S. Peterburg, St. Petersburg State University of Telecommunications named after Professor M. Bonch-Bruevich, Stockholm School of Economics, Paris Dauphine University, Evaluation Agency for Research and Higher Education (AERES) and Baltic international business school of the industry of business meetings.
