Dr. Carl F. Fey has been helping Stockholm School of Economics to develop a branch campus in St. Petersburg, Russia since it first started in 1997. Dr. Fey has directed and taught on many different executive programs including both company-specific training programs and much teaching on MBA and EMBA programs where all of his courses have consistently been rated among the top courses. Most of Dr. Fey’s teaching focuses on foreign market entry, leadership, teamwork, organizational culture, change management, managing alliances/mergers/acquisitions, and strategic innovation. Dr. Fey is also an active speaker and consultant. Known as a very engaging and innovative speaker who is very interactive with his audience even with larger groups, Dr. Fey’s trademark is adapting global best practice to Russian and Chinese reality. Dr. Fey has worked as a consultant on organizational and strategic issues for many leading foreign and local firms including TNK-BP (Russia’s largest foreign investment deal), and Siemens (one of China’s largest investors). Dr. Fey has also served as an advisor to the Russian government on long-term business development issues. Prior to returning to academia, Dr. Fey ran a business importing sports products from Russia to the USA and distributing them in the US.

Dr. Fey is one of the world’s leading experts on Russian management and organization. His research focuses on international aspects of organizational culture and effectiveness, leadership, strategic human resource management, foreign market entry, and knowledge transfer. Much of Dr. Fey’s research focuses on how one needs to adapt management theory and practice for success in the transforming economies of Russia and China. Dr. Fey has also been in charge of the World Economic Forum’s global Competitiveness project for Russia for the past five years. He has published over 30 articles in various journals including the Journal of International Business Studies, Organization Science, Voprosi Ekonomiki, Expert, and Harvard Business Review Russia.

Dr. Fey, who speaks English, Swedish, Russian, and German, has traveled and worked extensively in Russia and China having been to over 25 towns in China from Changchun to Kunming and Shanghai to Chengdau and 50 cities/towns in Russia from St. Petersburg to Vladivostok including trips on the trans-Siberian and the BAM railroads. In his free time, Dr. Fey is a lover of outdoor adventure.
