Strategy is the foundation of business
Our two strategy courses address the art and tools of strategy. We learn how to assess business results, what determines performance, how to conduct a strategic audit and how to develop a specific course of action to deal with strategic issues. The opportunity to enhance value by aligning the strategy and organizational structure is analyzed. The course provides conceptual frameworks and analytical tools for understanding the dynamics of industry structure and formulation of competitive strategies. Differing perspectives are utilized and alternatives to the rational determinism of strategic planning are discussed. The ability to implement change to enhance competitiveness is examined. Participants develop their abilities by integrating prior knowledge and skills acquired in previous courses and work experience and ’pulling it all together’ in the process of strategy formulation and strategic choice. The consequences of these decisions are actively developed and debated through individualized interaction with the experienced faculty.
