SSE alumni community celebrates Alumni Birthday
This year the Stockholm School of Economics alumni were celebrating a regular Alumni Birthday in St. Petersburg. The event, held on June 11, gathered more than 150 guests at the Belmond Grand Hotel Europe, including members of the SSE Board of Directors, representatives of the Swedish business community in Russia and certainly heroes of the occasion-alumni of EMBA, Oil & Gas, Strategic Marketing, Business Zoom, Hans Rausing programs and Novartis corporate program. Many of them came to St Petersburg from other cities to reunite with their fellow students and friends.
SSE President Lars Strannegård, Rector Anders Paalzow and Consul General of Sweden Ms Eva Sundquist, also an SSE alumna, addressed the audience with words of welcome.
The untypical format of the festive event made Alumni Birthday 2019 particularly memorable. Hosted by fabulous Mikhail Chernyshev (group SM2), the alumni presented Funky Business Stories, talking in a lively informal manner about their success and failures, ups and downs in business, career and personal life. Igor Rodchenko, one of the most illustrious rhetoric coach and SSE visiting professor, presented his own funky story. The alumni included many good musicians who contributed to the joyous atmosphere of the evening by playing the guitar and singing songs in Russian, English and French.
The alumni play an important role in the life of the Stockholm School of Economics: they, among other things, recommend SSE training to their friends and colleagues, participate in interviewing candidates for programs, thereby deciding who deserves to be admitted to their the community.
